Amco Houseworks OrangeX Ojex Juicer

The OrangeX Ojex Juicer puts a different spin on juicing. This manual unit eliminates the twisting reamer in favor of a level-squeeze mechanism that is actually faster and just as efficient as an electrical juicer.
Distributed by Amco Houseworks, this juicer is made from enameled cast iron with five suction cup feet that grip your countertop. This unit works on the principle of leverage. A sturdy lever raises the top, revealing an intricate pyramid-design stainless-steel reaming basket with slots to let your juice flow through. To use, you place a cut orange on the reamer and pull the lever forward. As you press forward on the lever, the head closes and presses the cut fruit down against the reamer. Juice is expelled through the reaming basket, and flows down into your waiting cup. Since the fruit remains stationary on the reamer, most (if not all) of the pulp stays attached to the fruit. What you get is pulp-free, seed-free pure juice.
We loved the simple design, which uses a combination of its own weight and added pressure to squeeze juice from the fruit. A soft, rubberized grip on the handle is comfortable to hold and affords a slip-free grasp. To get the head completely closed, which is necessary for thorough juicing, you need to put a bit of effort into pressing the lever down. We asked a group of individuals, including both male and female testers, to rate the amount of effort required. All felt it needed a firm push but nothing too difficult for the average person. Although the juicer is quite stable on the counter, we found you still have to be careful to exert pressure from front to back, rather than on one side, which can result in tipping the juicer.
We also felt the juicer had an attractive, sleek design, and would be a conversation piece on any counter. Available in a variety of colors, including red, cobalt blue, black, white and, of course orange, the OrangeX Juicer is as easy to clean as it is to use. The stainless-steel reamer removes for easy washing in the sink or dishwasher.
