Amana's ASD2625KEW is proof that a large, attractive, well-featured side-by-side refrigerator doesn't have to be expensive.

We liked the strong feel of the ASD2625KEW, both inside and out. For example, interior details like door buckets are hefty and don't have the flimsy feel that some door buckets feature, and the crisper drawer doesn't shimmy around when you pull it out.

The ASD2625KEW has a capacity of 15.8 cubic feet in its fresh food compartment, while the freezer has a capacity of 9.8 cubic feet, which is large enough to hold sufficient groceries to feed a large family. This model is surprisingly energy-efficient; it runs on just 617kWh of energy each year, so with current energy rates, you can expect to pay only about $65 annually to operate this refrigerator.

On the door are three adjustable door bins, two of which are deep enough to hold gallon-size containers. The ASD2625KEW also has a temperature-controllable beverage chiller compartment that can hold two one-gallon jugs; this compartment uses cold air from the freezer to chill its contents. The control for the beverage chiller compartment is located on the left wall of the fresh foods compartment. The door also has a clear dairy compartment.

Within the fresh foods compartment are three adjustable glass shelves with a spillsaver feature, plus a humidity-controlled crisper drawer, a temperature-controlled drawer that can function as a meat drawer or as a second crisper drawer, as well as a clear snack drawer. It also has an egg caddy. It is worth mentioning, however, that this model lacks some handy additional convenience features like a wine bottle caddy or a beverage rack.

Within the freezer compartment are three white wire shelves and two baskets. The door has three adjustable door bins and one fixed bin. The ASD2625KEW also has a through-the-door ice and water dispenser that works with an integral PuriClean II retractable filter. The water filter, which is located in the upper right corner of the fresh foods compartment, is very easy to access and change.

The ASD2625KEW comes in white, bisque and black; a stainless steel model is also available for an additional charge.

Amana's ASD2625KEW is a competitively priced, attractive side-by-side refrigerator model that offers some welcome features in a nicely designed unit.
