If you're looking for a bit of extra freezer space, Amana's AQC0722BRW chest freezer makes a fine choice.
The AQC0722BRW is a small freezer -- it takes up just under 32 inches of space along a wall. Its small size enables this chest freezer to fit inconspicuously into a small area within a garage or basement. It has a total capacity of 7 cubic feet.
A nice extra on this model is a single storage basket, which is sorely needed with very large freezer models, and is a welcome addition on smaller models.
The AQC0722BRW won't cost you much to operate. It runs on just 276 kWh of electricity annually, so you'll pay approximately $23 to run it for an entire year. At less than $2 a month, the operating cost -- coupled with the attractively low purchase price -- makes this unit a good value.
The AQC0722BRW is a manual defrost freezer. You will have to defrost it at least twice a year, so you will need to locate this appliance in an area of your home where water runoff from the defrost process will not be an issue.
Additional features adjustable temperature, lock with pop-out key and a power-on light to let you know that the appliance is operating. Unfortunately, the AQC0722BRW is missing a great feature that's always welcome in freezers: an audible alarm to let you know that the internal temperature has risen to a point at which foods may thaw or melt.
This model is only available in white.
The AQC0722BRW is a nifty small freezer that is meant to serve as supplemental freezer space. It's a nice-looking model with a quality feel.
Pros: Small size, storage basket included
Cons: Lacks audible alarm
