Alpine CDA-9833 auto CD player

Date Published: 1/9/08

The Alpine CDA-9833 CD player offers the best of all worlds. If a majority of your music is stored as MP3 files on CD-R/RW, the CDA-9833 will play them. If they are WMA files, the CDA-9833 will handle them as well.

What to do if you keep your music as digital files on an iPod? With an optional adapter ($100), the CDA-9833 will not only play them, it will operate the iPod through its controls. In addition, any other portable audio device can be connected via the CDA-9833's auxiliary input.

This CD player incorporates Alpine's MediaXpander that improves the sound quality of many compressed music files, as MP3, WMA, and iPod's AAC are all compressed to save storage space. While numerous comparable units have 22-watt amplifiers, the CDA-9833 uses a 26-watt (continuous) CEA-2006-compliant amplifier for each channel. The CDA-9833 also has 4-volt preamp outputs for front, rear, and subwoofer channels for connecting external amplifiers.

To further enhance the sound, the CDA-9833 has a five-band parametric equalizer and a six-way adjustable digital crossover. For even more advanced adjustments, there is a digital time alignment feature to compensate for the different distances between the driver and all of the speakers.

Instead of aligning with one satellite provider, the CDA-9833 can control either XM or Sirius Satellite Radio, and the standard tuner stores 6 AM and 12 FM stations in preset memory. The faceplate is motorized and detachable for added security, and it comes with a wireless remote. The Alpine CDA-9833 is an excellent head unit that would make a fantastic upgrade for any vehicle.
