Zoho Planner is a free web-based personal information manager that can help you organize your day. Its features are straightforward and fairly simple, but they're enough to meet the needs of many individuals.
One of the most appealing features of Zoho Planner, besides the fact that it's free, is that it works entirely from within your web browser. There is no software to install or troubleshoot and no software compatibility problems to worry about.
You must register to use Zoho Planner, but surprisingly for a free service, there is no requirement to provide any personal information. All you need to do is select a user name and password, and provide an email address. And the main reason for providing an email address is because that's where the contents of your Zoho Planner pages can be sent.
The interface is clean and easy to navigate, which is a good thing, because instructions are minimal. A user forum is available if you get stuck or need tips on how to make the most of the service.
The main page, called the Home Page, is almost blank until you start cluttering it up with information. You start by using a dropdown menu to select the type of information you want to add: Description, To Do, Appointment, Notes, Attachments. The selection you make determines the fields and features that will appear on the page.
When you set up an appointment, you can also schedule an email reminder to be sent to you, and anyone else who needs to know, any time from 15 minutes to one day before the start time of the appointment or meeting. When you add tasks to your to-do list, you can also schedule a reminder to be sent to you, if appropriate.
You can add file attachments to any entry, as appropriate, as well share pages with specific individuals or mark them as public.
Zoho Planner is a free web-based personal information manager that makes it easy to keep track of tasks and appointments.
Pros: Simple, straightforward, and easy to use; no software to install, upgrade, or troubleshoot; lets you easily share information with colleagues or family; no personal information required for registration, other than an email address
