Adorama Slinger Bag
Date Published: 3/28/06
The Adorama Slinger Bag is an example of a sling-type gadget bag that has become popular in recent years.
These bags are popular because they offer moderately large carrying capacity with easy accessibility of the contents that is not typically offered by conventional larger backpack bags, which must be carried only on the back then removed to gain access to the interior.
A sling bag is supported by one wide strap slung over one shoulder so it can be transported on the back for better distribution of weight; then when you need to gain access to the equipment inside, you simply swing it around to your side to open the top flap and pull out the needed items.
Inside the large main compartment are padded adjustable dividers plus a cradle system to support a large SLR body facing down with lens attached. At either end are longer storage areas suitable for an accessory flash or telephoto zoom lens. A zippered, mesh-lined storage area is inside the top flap and on each outside end of the main compartment.
There is a roomy zippered storage area across the front with a mesh sleeve inside plus a shallow storage flap in the front, which is adequate for paperwork or instruction books. Another smaller zippered shallow pocket is located on the back. There is a 2-inch wide waist belt to keep it secure to the body when desired. Four "D" rings make it easy to clip accessories onto the bag. A convenient cylindrical carrying handle is permanently attached to the top flap.
The styling of the Adorama Slinger Bag is both handsome and practical, and the bag appears to be well assembled for longevity. A 'lefties' version is also offered.
